Purchased so I could hear tv without disturbing anyone else…all I got was static and screeching. Never could get it to actually send show to me. So back it went. I can see where it’s a good idea to have it loop around neck and controls were handy. I just gave up afteer trying for two days.Didn’t work!People always seem to feel sorry for me when they discover that I only have about 30% of my hearing left at age 70. It is a genetic problem from my father's side of the family and as I continue to age it will worsen. But the bright side is that it is easier to compensate for poor hearing than it is to live with blindness. So I don't feel sorry for myself at all. Of the two, I prefer to be going deaf. This life change takes some experimenting and getting used to. That is why I ordered this Coniler Wireless Headset for TV Watching. Since I already wear hearing aids, the hearing buds on this product are counterproductive. You might say that this situation would be solved if I removed my hearing aids and just used the Coniler Headset. However my degree of hearing loss can't be overcome by this particular product and the sound quality of this headset is lacking in clarity. What I found 13 years ago when I was just starting to have trouble hearing was to buy a set of Sennheiser RS120 Headphones. They are over-the-ear headphones that block out noise and allow you to concentrate on what you want to hear. You can slip them on and off without monkeying with your hearing aids and you can adjust the volume to whatever quality signal your TV show is putting out. If someone wants to talk to you, you can just lower the volume for a few minutes without taking them off.Another nice thing about the Sennheisers is that they only cost about $109.00 compared to the Conilers at $179.00. They have been trouble-free, provide EXCELLENT sound quality even for someone as hearing challenged as I am, and were offered at significantly less cost. The only problem is that they are no longer made -- so if this type of headphone appeals to you, just look at some of the current models available and try them out at a local retailer. Then of course come back and buy them at Amazon.Perhaps the Coniler Headset will appeal to the younger generation who are used to earbuds or to those whose degree of deafness is mild in comparison. But for those of us who get headaches from concentrating hard in order to hear dialogue on a TV, I would recommend trying over-the-ear headphones. This wireless headset amplifier is easy to use and comfortable to wear. I like the behind the neck design so I don't have to worry about it falling out of my ears to the floor. The controls are relatively easy to use once you're familiar with them. They have a tactile feel so that makes it easier to find the correct button for the function you're looking for. The microphone is located on the neck band where the buttons are so be careful when reaching for the buttons and try to be gentle or you will hear it (kind of like tapping on a stethoscope!) There are 2 sound modes (normal and TV). For the TV mode, there is an additional microphone remote to place near the TV or music speakers. The remote also has a headphone jack so you can plug in an aux cord from your phone, tablet, computer, etc and into the microphone remote. That setup essentially turns this amplifier into traditional headphones where no one else will hear what you're listening or watching. Remember not to tap the remote microphone as well or you'll hear it! You don't have to use the remote microphone at all for the headset to work. The package comes with 2 micro USB cords for charging the headset and remote, it also includes 1 wall outlet plug, aux cable (the double ended headphone jack cord) and extra different sized ear tips. I would start off using this at the lowest volume first until you're familiar with all the buttons and location of the microphones and adjust until you can hear comfortably. It does help amplify all the sounds around you (you hear yourself talk, walking around, running your hands over a sheet of paper, etc). The sound although amplified, doesn't sound rich. It sounds very flat. Don't expect this to turn watching TV into a surround sound experience because you will be disappointed. This is definitely alot easier to wear than the hearing aid style of amplifiers. This set allows for multiple headsets to be connected to a single microphone remote. The pairing between the headset and microphone is relatively easy. It says it comes pre-paired but I had to re-pair it which only took a few seconds to do.This handy device works well either as a sound booster or, when connected to a TV directly, as earphones for watching tv without disturbing others. USB rechargeability means no bothersome power cord.Ok... these are pretty good. Not great, but good.Yes, the design keeps most of the awkward fumbling out of the way and once you learn the controls by feel (instead of by sight), it works pretty well. But for me, I kept hearing a 'rubbing' noise of the ear buds in my ear canal. It was very annoying. It would happen pretty much anytime that I was moving while wearing these.Maybe it's just 'my' problem, but it really took away from the enjoyment of using these ear buds.
